Alcalá de Henares, just inside the Madrid region, is about twenty-five kilometres from Guadalajara along the A-2. A university city and Cervantes' birthplace, it is a daily destination for study, work and medical appointments for many corridor residents.

Guadalajara y su entorno

From Guadalajara to Madrid the road is the A-2, which runs past Alcalá and Torrejón de Ardoz and gets heavy in the morning rush; the R-2 toll road is the alternative, reaching the M-40 from the north. Barajas lies along the A-2, with no need to cross the city.

Corredor del Henares

From the corridor you join the A-2 straight away towards Alcalá and Madrid; the airport lies just beyond Torrejón, without needing the M-40. The stretch between Alcalá and Torrejón is the one that jams most early in the morning.

Campiña de El Casar y Torrejón del Rey

From El Casar and Torrejón del Rey, Madrid is reached on the nearby R-2 toll road, or by dropping down to the A-2 through Azuqueca; for northern Madrid you can also join the A-1. For Barajas, the R-2 connects with the M-40 and M-50 next to the airport.

La Alcarria

Brihuega joins the A-2 at Torija and from there heads down to Guadalajara and Madrid. Pastrana lies further south and connects with Guadalajara and Alcalá along local roads, with no motorway until it reaches the A-2.

Sigüenza y la Serranía

From Sigüenza a local road leads down to the A-2 and on to Guadalajara, Alcalá and Madrid. In winter the first stretch can be icy early in the morning, so for early flights it pays to leave with time to spare.

Señorío de Molina

From Molina de Aragón the N-211 leads to the A-2 at Alcolea del Pinar, and from there the motorway continues to Guadalajara and Madrid. It is the province's longest trip to Barajas and is best planned well ahead.
