A driver's day between the Henares corridor and Barajas: pre-dawn departures, late-night arrivals, the Yebes high-speed station with no rail link, and the hospital
Guadalajara's day is made of short, chained trips. Before dawn, the early flights from the corridor and the capital to Barajas along the empty A-2; mid-morning, the high-speed pickups at Guadalajara-Yebes — a station in open country, with no rail link and a bus that does not meet every train — and the University Hospital appointments, with a wait; at shift-change time, the Cabanillas, Alovera and Marchamalo estates; and at night, the Barajas arrivals and the returns from Madrid. Every job is already in the app with a fixed time and price. Cabanillas to Barajas is 42 km; Alovera to the high-speed station, 18 km.

What is the airport run from the corridor like?
It is the shortest airport job in all of Castilla-La Mancha and the one that opens the day: from Cabanillas, Alovera or Azuqueca you join the A-2, pass Alcalá and Torrejón and enter the terminals via the M-14 without touching Madrid. The app carries the pickup time the customer has paid for, worked out from the flight time and terminal, and at that hour the motorway is empty: Cabanillas to Barajas takes the 34 min the engine calculates, from 69,91 €; from Marchamalo, 52 km and about 49 min. Because the trip is short, the usual thing is to chain two or three departures in a row before eight.
From half past seven the picture changes: the Alcalá to Torrejón stretch fills up towards Madrid and the driver allows for it in the proposed time. The detail the customer appreciates is the usual one: arriving a couple of minutes early, loading the bags and knowing which terminal their airline uses, which the app carries in the job.
Why does the Guadalajara-Yebes high-speed station generate so much work?
Because it is in open country. Guadalajara-Yebes station, on the Madrid to Barcelona line, lies several kilometres from the city, in the Valdeluz housing development, with no Cercanías link to Guadalajara and a city bus that does not meet every train. Anyone arriving by high-speed train in Guadalajara with nobody to collect them needs a car, and anyone leaving the Alcarria, the Serranía or Molina to catch a train has to reach an isolated station with a margin. The job arrives in the app with the train number, and the pickup is made at the station door, where the car park allows waiting.
The figures are short from the corridor and long from the Sierra: Alovera to the high-speed station, 18 km and about 19 min, from 31,56 €; from Sigüenza, 81 km. It is a fixed-time job on both sides: the train does not wait for the departing passenger, and the arriving traveller does not want to wait for anyone on an empty platform.
What are the University Hospital appointments like?
Guadalajara's University Hospital is the referral centre for the whole province, and mid-morning the transfers from the villages concentrate: the Alcarria, El Casar and the Campiña, the corridor and, with far more kilometres, Sigüenza and Molina. Many are round trips with a wait, and the app shows it: you drop at the outpatients door, wait where agreed or come back at the time the patient signals. Cabanillas to the hospital is 9 km; El Casar, 30 km and about 32 min.
The passenger is often elderly and accompanied, sometimes with a walker or a folding wheelchair, and the job says so, so that the right vehicle comes. Referrals to Madrid hospitals are the same job with more kilometres and the return whenever the appointment ends; a companion travels included in the price. They are the jobs that repeat most week after week and the ones the customer asks for with the same driver.
What is special about the Cabanillas, Alovera and Marchamalo shift changes?
The Guadalajara corridor's estates change shifts at hours with no Cercanías or bus, and the workforce lives spread across the corridor itself, Alcalá and eastern Madrid. The job arrives with the exact warehouse as destination — inside an estate a postal address is not enough — and often with several staggered pickups for the same company, which the app orders. They are corporate-account jobs: the passenger pays nothing, the driver handles no cash and what matters is arriving to the minute, because a shift that starts late is felt along the whole line.
And the late-night Barajas arrivals?
They close the day. The job carries the flight number and the app follows the actual landing time, so a delay does not mean waiting blind; the courtesy wait set by the operator starts counting at touchdown and the customer has known it since booking. You wait in the short-stay car park or the terminal's express zone, never at the taxi rank or offering the car to people coming out, and the parking is part of the job. The night return to the corridor or Guadalajara runs along the empty M-14 and A-2, in the engine's time and at the price fixed at booking.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a train between Guadalajara city and the Yebes high-speed station?
No. The station is in open country, at Valdeluz, and only a city bus that does not meet every train links it with the city; that is why pickups and departures for the high-speed train are booked with a driver.
How long is Cabanillas to Barajas before dawn?
It is 42 km and the engine estimates about 34 min; at that hour the A-2 and M-14 are empty and the real time is close to the engine's.
Does the driver wait if the flight is delayed?
The app follows the actual landing time and the courtesy wait starts counting at touchdown, not at the scheduled time. Beyond that wait the published terms apply, which the customer saw when booking.
Is cash collected on an estate shift run?
No. They are corporate-account jobs: the company pays on a monthly invoice, the passenger pays nothing and the driver handles no cash.
